Three Mountaineers Spice Rack
Ah, the elusive Three Mountaineers spice rack. These are wonderful vintage works of art. Three mountaineers is a manufacturing company who specializes in non-upholstered wood furniture and household items. They are based in Asheville, NC. Most of the spice racks were produced in the 1960's and 1970's. They have artistically illustrated paper labeled herb and spice charts on the front doors.
Inside the spice racks are much more comprehensive herb and spice charts which give suggestions on how and when to use them. The Three Mountaineers spice racks are both decorative and useful at the same time. Highly recommended!
There is a variety of designs and graphics to be found on the original Three Mountaineers spice racks. Sometimes there are wonderful colored fruit graphics such as berries, plums, peaches, cherries, pears, grapes, watermelons, and more. The handy chart on the inside of the old vintage Three Mountaineers spice racks lists a multitude of herbs and spices and how to use them in your cooking.
It is really quite interesting to note how the detail is almost scientific in the art of using spices can be. This makes for a perfect snap shot of the way things were done in those days. The instructions on these charts are often for uses in Sauces and Soups, Desserts, Vegetables, Bread and Baked Goods, Meats and Poultry, Beverages, Appetizers, Seafood, Appetizers, Salad and Salad Dressing, Soups, Sauces, Meats, Poultry, Fish, Eggs,Cheese,Desserts and Baked Goods.
